What Monsoon?

The next day in Hong Kong we went for dim sum at a real local place with a girl we met in Xi'an who lives in Hong Kong. It was a sunday morning and it was packed. We squeezed around a shared table that should only fit about 4 people with 6 people and one side of the table was against the wall. It was tight but the food was amazing. all sorts of dumplings. very tasty and cheap. A local Hong Konger was sitting next to me and said that he never saw any tourists at the restaurant, and he was a regular. Pretty authentic cuisine. After that we took a bus along the south coast and stopped at Stanley market. It was real touristy but we got some good food and relaxed on the beach. Hong Kong is gorgeous and has many beaches and mountains. Our last day in Hong Kong we just walked around and decided to see a movie. Tropic Thunder was hilarious...especially when they were speaking Vietnamese with Chinese and English subtitles.

The next day we flew to Bangkok for a night, had some awesome green curry and today we caught another flight to Phnom Penh. Lots of traveling. We figured we'd be at the Bangkok airport for a total of 6 times on this trip. It might be because of all the free samples they offer. We got into Phnom Penh at about 5pm and took a tuk tuk (basically a mo-ped with a covered bench attached to the back) from the airport. It was a great ride. We got to the hotel, checked in and then went for dinner. As we were leaving the room we heard something loud. I turned to look and it was monsooning. Heavy rain, wind, and thunder and lightning. wow. We decided to to go to dinner anyway but a little closer to the hotel. We found this little restaurant that served local food. We had very tasty pork dish and a chicken peanut curry. Also had some sticky rice. Amazing food. I never felt that full in China. The food just keeps getting better. The weight lost in China will defintely be gained back in SE Asia. Tomorrow we'll check out the Killing Fields and other sights. Going to be a busy but intense day.
